Ariane Matiakh is an artist of extraordinary versatility, passion and musicality, who fits perfectly into the KS Gasteig family, not least thanks to her technical brilliance and inspiring personality.
Since the 2022/23 season, she has been principal conductor of the Württemberg Philharmonic Orchestra Reutlingen and is also in demand internationally as a guest conductor. She regularly works with leading orchestras and opera houses; most recently, she conducted Carmen at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Fanny and Alexander at La Monnaie in Brussels, and concerts with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and many other renowned ensembles.
In the current 2025/26 season, she will conduct a new production of Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen at the Stuttgart State Opera, Philippe Leroux's L'Annonce faite à Marie at the Théâtre du Châtelet, and Poulenc's La Voix Humaine and Escaich's Point d'Orgue at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. Concert engagements also take her to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and other international orchestras.
Her discography includes a Grammy nomination for the Capriccio recording of Zara Levina's piano concertos with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, as well as other recordings featuring works by Poulenc, Françaix, Clara Schumann and Beethoven.
In 2022, she was appointed Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for her services to French musical life.
