Felix Mildenberger has served as the Principal Guest Conductor of the Filarmonica Teatro Regio di Torino since the 2021/22 season. Following his victory at the "Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition in 2018, he spent two years as Assistant Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, working closely with Sir Simon Rattle. Mildenberger's career also includes previous roles as Assistant Conductor with Paavo Järvi at Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich and Emmanuel Krivine at Orchestre National de France. His opera experience features working with Marc Albrecht at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Jane Glover at Aspen Opera Center, and Jukka-Pekka Saraste at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. In 2024, he made his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, conducting George Benjamin's Written on Skin.
Praised for his "refined technique and clear musical ideas," Felix Mildenberger has led many prestigious orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, DSO Berlin, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, hr-Sinfonieorchester, Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Camerata Salzburg, Dortmund Philharmonic, Dresden Philharmonic, Bremen Philharmonic, Staatskapelle Weimar, Ensemble Modern, Orchestre National de Lille, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, and Kansai Philharmonic in Osaka. Among the soloists he has worked with are Julia Fischer, Lucas and Arthur Jussen, Sabine Meyer, Nils Mönkemeyer, Martin James Bartlett, Daniel Lozakovich, and James Ehnes.
In the 2024/25 season, Mildenberger will return to Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt, Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, and Filarmonica Teatro Regio di Torino. He will also make his debut with Münchner Rundfunkorchetser and Philharmonie Südwestfalen.
Mildenberger began his musical education with studies in violin, viola, and piano, later focusing on orchestral conducting in Freiburg and Vienna, as well as at the Aspen Music Festival. His mentors include Lutz Köhler, Gerhard Markson, Scott Sandmeier, Massimiliano Matesic, and Mark Stringer, and he has further honed his skills in masterclasses with David Zinman, Paavo Järvi, Bernard Haitink, Markus Stenz, and others.
As a scholarship holder of the Conductors' Forum, he was named one of the "Maestros of Tomorrow" by the German Music Council in 2021 - an award of long-standing artistic quality. The year before, he was awarded the "Prix Young Artist of the Year" of the Festival of Nations.
