Gerold Huber is not a sought-after Lied accompanist whose piano playing is characterized by depth and expression. As a Lied accompanist he is a regular guest at festivals such as the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, the Salzburg Festival, the Munich Opera Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival at the Schwetzingen SWR Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Festival d'Aix en Provence as well as the Rheingau Music Festival or in concert halls such as the Kölner Philharmonie, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Vienna Musikverein, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, London's Wigmore Hall, Lincoln Center, the Armory or Carnegie Hall in New York, the Teatro della Zarzuela in Madrid, the concert halls in Dortmund, Essen, Baden- Baden or the Salzburg Festspielhaus.


The pianist works with a large number of internationally renowned singers, including Christiane Karg, Julia Kleiter, Christina Landshamer, Anna Lucia Richter, Michael Nagy, Maximilian Schmitt, Martin Mitterrutzner, Julian Prégardien, Günther Groissböck, Georg Zeppenfeld, Tareq Nazmi and Franz-Josef Selig. As a chamber music partner, Gerold Huber has performed with the Artemis Quartet, among others, and he also works regularly with the Henschel Quartet, with trumpeter Reinhold Friedrich and cellist Maximilian Hornung.As a soloist, he devotes himself primarily to the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert. Concerts have taken him to the Munich Residence, the Théâtre Municipal de Romains in France, the Kultursommer Kassel and the New Zealand Festival in Wellington.

In addition to two solo CDs with works by Beethoven and Schumann, there are numerous outstanding CD recordings together with Christian Gerhaher, all of which have won several awards. Without exception, the jury's reasons emphasise the congenial and symbiotic partnership of this duo. Gerold Huber's extensive discography also includes recordings with Günther Groissböck (Schubert on Decca), Bernarda Fink (Schubert on harmonia mundi France), with Ruth Ziesak (Liszt on Berlin classics, Haydn and Mahler/Zemlinsky on Capriccio, Mendelssohn on AVI), with Maximilian Schmitt on Oehms classic (Clara and Robert Schumann / Schubert Die schöne Müllerin), with Christina Landshamer (Schumann and Ullmann on Oehms classic) and with Franz- Josef Selig (Lieder by Schubert, Strauss and Wolf on AVI).

In September 21, the complete edition of all Schumann songs "Alle Lieder" will be released, on which he worked for many years together with Christian Gerhaher - a co-production of Sony Classical, the Heidelberger Liedzentrum and the Bayerischer Rundfunk. The Sony Calssical recording of Gustav Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde in the piano version with Piotr Beczala and Christian Gerhaher was released in May 2023.

Gerold Huber is a sought-after teacher and gives selected master classes, such as at the University of Yale, the Aldeburgh Festival, at the Schwetzingen Festival and at the Schubert Week in the Pierre Boulez Hall in Berlin. Since 2013 Gerold Huber has been Professor of Lied Accompaniment at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg and in March 2022 - together with Christian Gerhaher - received a call to the same position at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich.
