Christof Fischesser is recognized as one of the leading basses of his generation. He has performed at major international venues such as the Vienna State Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Bavarian State Opera, Opéra National de Paris, Teatro Real Madrid, and the Zurich Opera, where he enjoys a close artistic collaboration. Acclaimed for roles such as Sarastro (The Magic Flute), Rocco (Fidelio), King Marke (Tristan und Isolde), Landgraf Hermann (Tannhäuser), Wassermann (Rusalka), Baron Ochs (Der Rosenkavalier), Gurnemanz (Parsifal) and Bluebeard (Bluebeard’s Castle), he is a regular guest at the most important opera houses and festivals in Europe.

Fischesser is also an acclaimed concert artist, having performed with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim, the Vienna Symphony under Fabio Luisi, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under Claudio Abbado at the Lucerne Festival. His wide-ranging concert repertoire includes Beethoven’s Missa solemnis, Verdi’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and Brahms’ Four Serious Songs. Numerous CD and DVD recordings document his artistic work.
