And once again, we are delighted to share wonderful news — namely, the addition of new artists to the KünstlerSekretariat am Gasteig.
Sophie Rennert – already well known to Munich audiences for her dazzling character portrayals at the Gärtnerplatztheater. Whether as Donna Elvira or Hänsel, as Ruggiero in Handel’s Alcina or Angelina in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, as a passionate Carmen or a touching Nicklausse in The Tales of Hoffmann: her range on the opera stage is as impressive as her versatility in concert. It is no coincidence that she has long been one of the few regular guests at the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg and Hohenems, and that she is just as captivating on the song recital stage as she is in opera.
Her velvety high mezzo-soprano, the agility of her coloratura, and her consistently genuine and immediate stage presence make her a perfect addition to our roster.
Kieran Carrel – a lyrical tenor with radiant brilliance and luminosity, with exceptional linguistic clarity, vocal intelligence, and technical finesse that are second to none. Having been a member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper Berlin for five years, where he has established himself as a Mozart tenor, Kieran looks forward to his upcoming debuts as Belmonte and Narraboth next season. The German-British tenor grew up in Germany bilingual in English and German. With close ties to London’s Wigmore Hall and the Heidelberger Frühling Festival, he is also a captivating interpreter of song, winning audiences immediately with his direct and unaffected expressiveness.
Both artists are also distinguished concert performers with a wide-ranging repertoire and the finest sense of ensemble culture — we could not imagine better or more fitting new additions to our roster — A VERY WARM WELCOME!
