Born in Bratislava (Slovakia), soprano Simona Šaturová began violin lessons at the age of five. After graduating from high school, she studied singing at the Bratislava Conservatory and attended various masterclasses, including with the Romanian soprano Ileana Cotrubas. Today she is in demand internationally both on the opera stage and in concert and works with many renowned conductors and orchestras.
Since stepping in at short notice as Ilia (Idomeneo) at the Théatre de la Monnaie in Brussels in 2010, she has regularly returned to the theatre as Violetta Valéry (La traviata), Sandrina (La finta giardiniera), Servilia (Titus), Gilda (Rigoletto), Ismene (Mitridate), Lucia Cinna (Lucia Silla), as Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and as Contessa (Marriage of Figaro). She has also been closely associated with the Aalto Theatre in Essen and the Semperoper in Dresden since her great success as Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail). In addition to numerous appearances at the National Theatre in Prague, the soprano has also performed at the Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, the Théâtre du Châtelet Paris, the Opéra de Monte Carlo, the Frankfurt Opera, the Theater an der Wien and the Megaron in Athens. Her repertoire includes the roles of Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Adina (L'elisir d'amore), Elettra (Idomeneo), Giulietta (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Adele (Die Fledermaus).
Simona Šaturová has also made a name for herself internationally as a concert and oratorio singer. She regularly appears with orchestras such as the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Rundfunkorchester Berlin, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
